shall we have a quick trip to see what's going on in langkawi island?

this is the scene at the private beach of the hotel i stayed, very laid-back.

"lang" means eagle and "kawi" means marble.
this statue is actually super big... can you get the prespective of the things in the pic?

now, let's get on the speedboat for the mangrove jungle tour, ready?

i love drinking TEH TARIK in malaysia.
especially after the thrill of adventure, need i refill some sugar? haha.

"jelly fish in season"... sounds like yummy jellyfish is floating everywhere in the ocean.
have you ever heard of this line "i am selfish to sell the memories to jelly fish"?

マレーシアのクアラルンプールに行きました。

マレー語でjalanっていうのは道っていう意味で、だからマレーシアの道の看板ではよく、「jalan〜〜〜」っていう名前を見かける。ちなみに、jalan jalanっていうと「ちょっとプラプラ歩き回ってみる」っていう意味だそうです。そういえば、昔日本に住んでたときに「ジャラン」っていう旅行系の雑誌があったなー、なんて思いだした。その名前の由来はマレー語からきてるのかもね。

ということで、ジャランジャランしてみました。

見ればわかるけど、マレーシアの公衆電話です。
赤だし、なんとなくデザインが可愛気だったので。

この蟹がめちゃくちゃうまかった。
でも蟹にかかってるソースはもっとおいしかった。結構甘いけど。
脇に有るパンを浸して食べます。

マレーシアは他民族国家で、中華系、インド系とマレー系といろいろオリジンが別れているようですね。あとは全身真っ黒のアラビックの人も街でよく見かけたりしました。当然宗教的に着ている服とかではっきりその種派の違いがわかるので、そういうバックグランド的な情報も知っているとどんなエリアにどんな格好の人たちが多いとか、どんな職業にどんな人が多いとか、関連付けて見たりするとマレーシアの事をもっと知れて面白いなと思った。印象に残っているのが空港の職員でバゲッジのチェックをする人。もちろん空港職員用のオフィシャルの制服を着てるんだけど、頭をすっぽり布でカバーしてさらにその上にオフィサーな感じの帽子をかぶってて、警察官とか軍人がかぶるようなシェープのあの帽子、、、初めて見たから絵的に不思議だった。あとびっくりしたのは、アラビックの女性がプールに入る時は、全身が隠れる格好で水にはいるんですよね。あれは大変だ、本当に。だからなのか殆どのアラビックのカップルは男の人は水に入るんだけど女性はみんなプールサイドに座ってて、やっぱり全身濡れて着替えたりしたらめんどくさいんだろうな、って思った。そういえば、地元ガイドの女性の方が「普段はイスラム教の女性は外では全身真っ黒ずくめだけど、だから逆に部屋の中ではすごく派手な格好なんだよ。私も含め」って教えてくれた。ちょっと見てみたい、どれだけ派手なのか。
